Presentation of the program
Believing in the importance of the role played by the media in promoting the process of democratic transition and achieving national reconciliation, Rasd Center for Humanitarian and Development Studies is pleased to invite media workers and those interested in issues of peace, national reconciliation and community peace to apply for the training course that it organizes in cooperation with the French Embassy in Khartoum under the title “Post-Conflict Journalism”training.
The five-day training course will address multiple and overlapping issues including journalistic ethics, separating facts from opinions, checks against prejudice, cultural violence and the power of the media. In dealing with the issues raised, the training will adopt an approach that combines theory and practice and unifies the expressions of written, audio and visual press. In doing so, the session will attempt to establish approaches between the manifestations of the conflict in Sudan and on the African and international arenas and their implications on the media practices in an attempt to differentiate between the trends and practices of traditional journalism and post-conflict journalism.
Content of the training
Convinced of the paramount importance of this initiative, which will be translated into a training session to be held in Khartoum between August 14 and 18, Rasd Center welcomes participants of both sexes from different parts of the country. To this end, the center will cover travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses of the selected participants coming from all over Sudan. In compliance with the values that govern its work, Rasd Center is keen to observe the utmost levels of transparency and integrity in the process of selecting participants, from whom, in return, seriousness, discipline and positive interaction with the course outcomes are expectedin order to achieve maximum benefit from this unprecedented initiative.
In order to achieve the greatest possible continued interaction and sustainability of the impact, the completion of the course will be followed by the selection of a group of attendees to participate into a two-days mini-course to train new trainers, after which they will be entrusted with the responsibility of organizing similar training courses in the capital and the states.
1- A five days training course will be delivered by highly experienced trainers on theoretical knowledge but also practical experiences
2- Four Person Will Be selecte among the 25 attendes to participante in to a two days training of Trainer session in Khartoum.
3-The four participants Will organise training sessions in their localités to disseminateThe knowledge and the expériences they benefit from the first training session to other local journalistes.
Candidates application
To apply to this training, you must:
- Be a journalist (print, audiovisual, online Medias)
- living in Sudan. Applicants from Darfur, Kordofan, Blue Nile and Eastern States are encouraged to apply. Youth, particularly women, and disabled people are encouraged to apply.Have proven experience as a journalist.
- Have proven experience as a journalist.
- Have interest in the the matics covered by the training session described above.
- Speak Arabic
- Commit to attend the training session
